Kursus Kahwin

This weekend D and I together with our future husbands will be attending the kursus kahwin at Mont Kiara. I'm looking forward to a fulfilling and fruitful religious discourse. I truly hope it will be academic and dynamic with a focus on ensuring correct implementation and understanding the spirit of the religious requirements of marriage, instead of an emphasis on the procedural requirements.

Did you know that Christians too, have something akin to a kursus kahwin? My friend A, got married last month and while she is not a practicing Christian, and neither is her husband for that matter, she and her husband were required to attend pre-marital counselling. All members of a church (cell?)will undergo this counselling.

What is offered is actually Christian pre-marital counselling and non-Christian pre-marital counselling. I wonder if many non-Christians know about this and whether any actually do consult a church for pre-marital counselling. What I personally think is a very good thing about counselling that the church offers is that it counsels you for a period of TWO years preceding your marriage, apparently. A, who is such a anti-religion person, be it Christianity, Islam or whatever, even told me that she found it helpful.

But what i found very strange is that A and her husband could not get married in a church because they have not attended mass for continously for the past 3 months, which is apparently a requirement if you wish to marry in the church itself. So what happened was that the religious ceremony took place in a room at the hotel where the reception was, with the pastor from her church presiding. Damn, I'd love to have gone to a pretty church wedding!!

Anyway A's wedding was just fantastic, fun and filled with happiness. Congrats Ash, I am so happy for you - and you couldn't have looked prettier on that day!

a hydrangea pelamin inspired by mulberry

I want a hydrangea garden pelamin for my nikah. The mulberry ad campaign (pic above) is so inspiring and I think it would fit the nikah venue perfectly, seeing as the facade of the Ledang Room is pretty similar.Since Flora Etc has very kindly decided to play cruel unnecessary games with me, I was wondering if any one else has any suggestions as to who could do my pelamin? I'm thinking the Poetry of Flowers, who did my engagement ceremony, check out pictures below:

the pretty simple pelamin, but when you look up close, the level of detail and care that Safia from the Poetry of Flowers put in is obvious and her very elegant style manifests:

Some pics of the hantaran tunang - chocolates, sampin, fruits !

Don't you think the tassles and pearls were so cute, and what's better, so highly appropriate for an engagement..*we heart it*

And the beautiful sireh junjung...my mother loved it to bits..

a regularising miracle

It's been almost 1 and a half years since the doctor's visit. Stubbornly (that's me!!) I never fully followed the doctor's orders which was to take the birth control pills. Nothing against it, I'm all for it..IF you're trying to avoid pregnancy. But in my case the birth control pills are just to so-called "regularise" the cycle. Which is fake because the minute you get off the pills, your body is back to normal again.

So how? I need to ensure that my body and cycle is OK so that I will be able to have children as normally as I possibly can. This means massive changes to my life - diet, exercise, sleep, everything! Well it really ought to have been implemented after the doctor's visit but hey.....

So anyway. Now's the T I M E. because I'm getting married y'all!! So i got to be thin for the dress and ready for the babies (my husband is much older hence the need to have babies immediately)

Readers, I am pleased to let you know that since December 4 2010, the date that Sham's mother proposed to my parents on his behalf, I have had three cycles of my period:-
1st cycle - 4 December 2010 - 11 December 2010
2nd cycle - 6 February 2011 - 18 February 2010
3rd cycle - 29 March 2011 - current Out of the blue, the cycle is regularising!

I mean its not the ideal 28 day cycle yet as you can see from about, but hey, almost there. I am ecstatic that it is naturally regularising and insha-allah I hope it will continue to be like this forever and ever. Am more psyched than ever to beat PCOS for once and for all now. I may actually have a shot at having a child naturally. I cannot think of anything that Shamshul and I would be more grateful for once we are married. Alhamdulillah and praise to Allah for my health and luck. cheerio guys! wedding updates next!
